My mission with this blog is to share leadership insights and inspire people of all backgrounds, ages, and levels of experience to go beyond their limits and achieve extraordinary things.
Over 7,000 nautical miles, six weeks, two continents, two hemispheres, the equator line, one ocean crossing, two races, diverse weather, wind and sea conditions, a 70-foot racing yacht, a team of 19 people, and above all, an adventure of a lifetime!
The challenge was completed, now follow the stories and lessons I learned during this incredible experience.
"Like everything in life, it is the more difficult challenges that bring the greatest rewards, both in experience and satisfaction. The Clipper Race provides those challenges, be it in the wide range of weather conditions across the world's oceans, to learning how to live, maintain and race a thoroughbred ocean racing yacht."

Fundraising for UNICEF is also one of my goals. Your donation, no matter how small, will make a difference to children around the globe. For every donation I'm going to add £5 myself.
Check the fundraising page or go directly here to make a donation using JustGiving in UK.
The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is the only event of its type. Anyone, even if they have never stepped on a boat before, can join the adventure.
The Race Crew is very diverse. Each boat has a team of 15-20 people with different levels of experience, gender, age and nationalities.
Through rigorous training, we become ocean racers as part of a team onboard a 70-foot ocean racing yacht.
A stretch to both physical and mental limits, forcing us to step outside any comfort zone.
The race uses ten identical Clipper 70s: a powerful, 70-foot ocean racing yacht, purpose-built for extreme conditions, not luxury.
I'm taking the Leg 1 of the race, crossing the Atlantic Ocean over 35 days sailing from the UK to Uruguay with unpredictable Doldrums and Equator crossing.
My 20+ years professional career has also been a wild ride leading IT projects and digital transformations at global companies like Heineken, British American Tobacco, Kraft Foods and Reader's Digest. I learned that leading at the office has many similarities to leading at the ocean, and I'm excited to share stories from the desk to the deck.
